2018 International Exhibition of Art: Par Art

Information on this year’s International Exhibition of Art in Kyoto. The annex is being renovated, so the group’s shows all over the city. Par Art, Gallery Keifu, and Art Space You have participated in the past. The Heian Jingu gallery and Gallery Aogiri are new additions. The administrators worked extra hard this past year looking for spaces that could hold a large group and be affordable. The shows are run by volunteers on a bare-bones budget. The staff from the Kyoto municipal art museum might be involved but solely as a guest judge. No funds or services are provided.

The one at Par Art runs a bit later than usual, so I will be in Kyoto Oct 26-Nov 2. Par Art is an old machiya, a traditional style of row housing in Kyoto. It has been renovated into a fabulous space. Some of the amazing people at Par Art at the end of October in Kyoto: Michelle Zacharias, Nao Morigo, Galia Combe, Megu Fukuda, Omar Torres, Sara Araki, Chika Ando, Yumi Inoue, and 包日全 (one person whose so-called spelling in katakana has changed and I am not sure of the ABC spelling, Bao Li Chen, Bao Ri Quan, Bao Li Shun, Bao Li Xun? (バオ・リーチェン [2017]or バオ・リー・シュン[2018])). If anyone knows the correct reading of his name, please let me know.
